As part of their social responsibility, youths of Mokani Village in Tailevu have taken up the initiative of keeping their health centre clean.

On Saturday more than 30 members of the Mokani Youth club took their time to thoroughly clean-up the Mokani Health Centre and its facilities.

The clean-up campaign was organised by its youth committee.

Youth club president, Salaseini Vueti, said the clean-up was a way to encourage youths around Fiji to help the Fijian Government during the COVID-19 pandemic and post disaster rehabilitation rather than complaining about dirty facilities.

“This is a rewarding hands-on opportunity to engage our youth members in giving back to the community,” Ms Vueti said.

“We are the ones using the facility and it was only right that we play a part in keeping it clean.

“These clean-up campaign events are not just important to assist our community but to gain experience and credibility through our community service efforts.”

The Mokani Health Centre serves the people in the District of Bau, Dravo and nearby villages and settlements.

“Participating together in a community service clean-up campaign allows us to enhance performance, improve team leadership, and renew team spirit.”

She also acknowledged the support shown by the team members and staff of the Mokani Health Centre during the clean-up campaign.

On behalf of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Medical Officer of the Mokani Health Centre Dr Motu Kotoimatuku, thanked the Mokani Youth Club for assisting them in cleaning the facilities and hoped for a continuous partnership with the club in enforcing a cleaner and safer environment for all.
