Tadu To Work On Midfield

The Rewa Women’s football team started their Digicel Women’s Super League with a 2-0 win over Tailevu/Naitasiri at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.
What happened: With veteran rep Naomi Waqanidrola leading the side, they kept the Tailevu/Naitasiri strikers at bay.
They piled on the pressure with continuous attacks and it paid dividend in the 30th minute when Lora Bukalidi slotted in the opening goal.
Halftime: Rewa 1-0 Tailevu/Naitasiri.
Tailevu/Naitasiri came back in the second half as they dominated play but could not penetrate the Rewa defence.
In the final minute it was Waqanidrola who used her experience to slam in their second goal.
Comment: Rewa coach Usaia Tadu said: “I thank the Lord, and also congratulate the girls for the win.
“The first game is always an important one. We’ll continue to gauge our performance in every game.
“We need to strengthen the midfield so they could distribute quality balls to the strikers.
“Also, we’ll work more on our fitness for the players to adapt to 90-minute football.”
Rewa take on Nadroga in the second round of the Digicel Women’s Super League.
