CCTV Footage Shows Man Allegedly Stabbed Wife

The State prosecutor yesterday told the High Court in Suva that there was a CCTV footage showing a murder accused allegedly stabbing his wife.
This is in the case of Luke Nasetava, who is charged with the murder of Amelia Mafi, on August 31, 2019 at Walu Bay in Suva.
Shirley Tivao from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions revealed this.
Ms Tivao requested the court for further time to file agreed facts, as the state would use the CCTV footage as part of the evidence in trial.
In response, defence lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo, told the court that he received additional disclosures with the copy of the CCTV footage and statements.
He sought time to consult with his client who is in remand.
Mr Vosarogo asked the court for special permission to allow him speak to his client at the court premises because the remand centres did not allow lawyers to take electronical devices inside.
Justice Salesi Temo, said he agreed adding that the accused had the right to prepare for his case and be defended.
The trial date has been set from June 28 to July 9, 2021. The matter will be called for mention on April 9.
