DSGFC Sets For One Day Fishing Club Comp

The Denarau Sport and Game Fishing Club (DSGFC), a small friendly fishing club with around 100 members, based at Port Denarau is set to host its first – One Day Fishing Competition scheduled for this Saturday.
Situated on the west of Viti Levu, the club is a family orientated with categories for men, women, and children.
Club president Marc McElrath said after the success of the annual Tuna Levu Classics last month as the members are ready for the next event.
“The club holds a fishing competition each month. There are seven One Day Club competitions a year and four major competitions annually,” he said.
He urged the memberships for 2021 are now due and all anglers urged to be paid up members or they won’t be included in the overall points tally for the “Top Rod” trophy at the end of the year.
“There will be various prizes: species, top team, top big boat, junior angler, top small boat and top female/male angler.
He thanked the sponsors; Flame Tree, Interior Plaster Systems (Fiji) LTD, MacDonalds, Cardo’s, Blue Gas, Higgins, Five Star Foods, Devcorp, Port Denarau Marina, M&M Construction, Hidden Gem Diving, and Fishing.
The Entry fee is $75 per person, Minimum Anglers – As per tournament rules, Minimum species -Minimum weights will apply to this tournament, Radios -All Boats must have a working VHF radio on board.
“Participants are urged to stop fishing at 4 pm all boats must stop fishing with all boats back at the dock by 5 pm,” he said.
Schedule of events for the One Day Competition: Registrations at Cardos 5.30 pm this Friday, catch packs will be handed out at the registration. Briefing – 6.30 pm after the raffle at the Cardo’s restaurant deck. Competition: Depart Denarau Marina from 6am and Start fishing from 7am.
