The JK Builders-sponsored Nadi Veterans will be in full force to claim their third title during the 2021 RC Manubhai/APCO Coating Veterans tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka this weekend.

The Maika Kasami-captained side won the title back to back in 2017 and 2018 in Nadi and Lautoka respectively.

The side will include former Nadi and national reps Waisiki Batina, Watisoni Voli, Timoci Matanitu, Thomas Robert, Kesho Goundar and former Blues Maika Waqa.

“We are going for a win this weekend, the players are not new to the game as they have represented their districts and some even went to represent Fiji,” coach Lambert Sarju said.

The side is in Group C with Suva City Masters, Rewa Masters, and Lautoka Masters.

“This year we have all local teams and teams will be in full force to register victories and they all have their stars as well,” he said.

“It is true that it will be a reunion for the players and they will be out to win at any cost as well.

“This year the competition will be staged at the Sigatoka for the first time. It is good to see that Fiji FA is growing the game.”

The tournament was founded in 2013, and other winners were Suva Masters (2013, 2015), Ba Veterans (2014), Sydney Ba (2016), NZ Rewa (2019).

Teams to watch out for would be Lautoka Masters who always impress at the tournament and played in three finals and Tavua Veterans who featured in two finals.

The match kicks off today with Suva Combine Masters hosting Nasinu Legends at Suva’s Fiji FA Academy at 5pm, and Ba Legends host Lautoka FC Veterans at the Ba’s Fiji FA Academy ground before round two resumes at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka on Friday with the finals on Sunday.
