Singh Credits Cancer Survivor Mum, Calls Her A Fighter

Among the 29 new lawyers admitted to the bar yesterday, was Sidhant Singh, who dedicated his achievement to her parents, especially to his cancer-surviving mother.
“When I started at USP, my mother’s health deteriorated. It was really hard to be away from home,” he said.
“My mother just had her surgery. I am so happy that she is present today to witness my achievement. My mother is also a breast cancer survivor and she has fought a good fight.
The 25-year-old from Lautoka completed a combined programme for Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce majoring in International business in marketing and public administration at the University of the South Pacific (USP).
The former Tilak High School student said trying to be independent was challenging.
“It was not an easy journey for me and to be away from home for the first time was even harder,” he said.
“I worked hard because my mother was sick and I did not want to make her sad so I made sure that I did well.
“My family has done a lot for me and now it is my turn to do the same.”
“I am the first lawyer in my family and as the only son it is my duty to do my best.”
His mother, Anita Singh acknowledged her son for working hard.
“It was a hard journey for us because when my son started university, I started to get sick and now that he has been admitted to the bar, I have successfully undergone surgery,” Ms Singh said.
“I am so grateful that my son was awarded TELS which helped a lot.
“To witness today was a blessing and I am thankful that my son has done us proud.”
