Meet Lycyna Kamali, the brain behind the marketing and communication strategy of Marriott International, Fiji.

The Marriott International, Fiji Cluster Marketing Manager was among women celebrating Women in Leadership this month.

Mrs Kamali said: “I am a daughter, a sister (eight siblings!), a wife, and proud mother of three, who values quality time with those close to me.

“Coming from a large family, I have been inspired by both the women, and men in my life who have always uplifted and supported my growth and made me believe that anything I want to achieve in life, I can do so with hard work and determination.

“As I reflect on this year’s International Women’s Day theme – Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world, I think about the opportunities that arise through challenges, the strengths and triumphs that come out of struggles and the resilience in women to be able to power through crisis, stereotypes and barriers.”

Mrs Kamali explained that working for an organisation that has been named as one of the top 10 Companies for Executive Women, for the 17th year brings her a lot of pride.

“This is a remarkable achievement and shows Marriott’s commitment to women’s advancement in the workplace, diversity, equity and inclusion.

“Having the opportunity to learn and grow constantly paves the way forward, and I’m excited to be able to pursue the second stretch of my MBA studies this month!

“My message to all women out there, ‘A drop in the ocean can create a rippling effect of change. Use your power for great change’.

What’s One Place In Fiji You’d Take Every Visitor To, And Why?
Fiji is full of fascinating locations, but I would have to say while on Viti Levu, the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay is a must visit.

I love how the resort offers the only over-water bungalows found on main land, perfect for couples with spacious suites also available for families.

The seclusion offers a relaxing experience especially to bond and switch off.

What’s Your Secret Backyard Favourite Spot?
The front yard of my home in Malolo, Nadi will always be my sweet spot as I’ve watched my kids play and grow here.

My family and I have shared memories of the most beautiful sunsets and views of Malolo Island.

On a clear night, there is an incredible display of the stars which fascinate my children.

What’s Your Favorite Place In Fiji For A Pie/Coffee?

Definitely The Bakery, located at the Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa

What Is The One Fiji Spot On The Top Of Your Bucket List?
Explore the Yasawas with my family, and make another trip to my island home Rotuma.

Yasawa Island.

Yasawa Islands.
