China To Help Fiji Eradicate Poverty, Says Ambassador

China will continue to implement projects that will help Fiji eradicate poverty, says Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo.
Mr Qian said just as China’s President Xi Jinping declared “complete victory” in eradicating absolute poverty in China in the last eight years, China would also help Fiji.
Addressing the media and university scholars at a gathering at the Chinese Embassy in Suva yesterday Mr Qian said: “The fruits of China-Fiji co-operation benefit Fijian people in all aspects of clothing, food, housing, transportation, medicine, education, and entertainment bringing tangible benefits to the local people and playing a positive role in Fiji’s poverty reduction.”
He said they were planning to invite Fijian Government officials to present the ways that China was able to help eradicate poverty.
“China will continue to do its best to implement projects that will help Fiji develop its economy and improve people’s livelihood to better benefit Fijians, especially the poor and disadvantages people,” he said.
“There are ways that Fiji can eradicate poverty.
“Eradication of poverty is in China’s top list, just like climate change is for Fiji.
“The problem with climate change is that it is a global issue and for poverty, Fiji can do it alone to eradicate it.
“We would like to share some information with Fiji on how to eradicate poverty. While developing itself, China keeps other developing countries in mind.
“China actively promotes international cooperation on poverty reduction, sharing its experience and practices, and providing assistance to developing countries to promote common development.”
