Xavier College made a clean sweep of the Ba Zone athletics competition at Churchill Park, Lautoka, yesterday.

They took out the boy’s grade with 32 gold, 19 silvers, 16 bronze medals while the girls scoop 24 gold medals, 16 silvers and 14 bronze.

Xavier College team manager Purinima Badlu said they would go back to the drawing board to prepare for the Coca-Cola Games.

“We’ll take on training like what we’ve been doing before and hope to get the best results,” she said.

“We’re always expecting the best so we’ll do our best and we’ll see how far we get.”

Ba Secondary Schools Association president Hussain Shah said Xavier College, Kamil Muslim College and Ba Methodist High School had lifted their performance this year.

“We had a bit of difficulty preparing and also coming to Lautoka to compete but despite that the schools performed well,” Shah said.

“All small schools like Ba Sanatan really came up in the last day especially in the sub junior and junior grades and that’s a promising sign for the future.”

He said for the track events they’ve pinned their hopes on Miriama Namui of Nukuloa College in the junior girls 1500 metres.
