The senior boys javelin record was broken during the Tailevu Zone at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.
Queen Victoria School’s Jone Tikoisuva set a new zone record by throwing 58.79 metres.
The Naiselesele, Taveuni lad set the record with his first throw before Motikai Murray of Ratu Kadavulevu School threw further than him. Then Tikoisuva took his last throw and it was a winner.
“I’m happy to win but I want to break the national record,” he said.
“It feels good to break an eight-year old record.
“My mission is to win gold at the Coke Games and stamp my mark in the country. My aim was to break the zone record and I did that.”
