Lawyers Given Time To Respond In Airline Strike Out Application

The Employment Tribunal has given 21 days to Ravneet Charan and Jon Apted to file submissions after it dismissed Fiji Airways strike out application on the termination of its staff.

The matter was called before Resident Magistrate Aleem Shah in Lautoka yesterday.

Mr Apted is representing 245 of the 430 cabin crew who were terminated.

Mr Charan yesterday appeared for Fiji Airways on behalf of Devanesh Sharma who was not present in court.

Mr Apted told the court that he sought for directions on submissions since the matter was regarding dismissal therefore the employer had to go first.

Mr Charan told the court that he had instructions that the matter was to file an appeal against the Employment Tribunal’s decision to strike out the matter.

Magistrate Shah gave 21 days for the employer to file submissions .

Thereafter Mr Apted was to file a response submissions then an additional 14 days for Mr Charan to file a response before the next mention date. The matter has been adjourned to May 24 for mention.
