Two Men Arrested For Alleged Involvement In Separate Nausori Robberies

Two men are in Police custody for their alleged involvement in separate robberies in Nausori over the last 48-hours.

A man in his 20s was taken into custody at the Nausori Police Station after he was arrested by officers on beat after allegedly breaking into a major retail outlet shop on Monday night.

Recoveries were also made.

In the second incident a man in his 20s was arrested after joint efforts by members of the public and Police at the Nausori Old Market Car Park yesterday afternoon.

The suspect allegedly broke into a parked car and grabbed a bag containing a laptop and cash.

The suspect did not realise a woman was inside the car who alerted bystanders and a police officer.

The Police officer arrested the suspect and while escorting the him to the Nausori Police Station, another woman tried to interfere whereby the suspect while trying to escape assaulted the arresting officer who sustained injuries.

The suspect is currently in Police custody as investigations into both cases continue.

The Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan has commended the efforts of members of the community in the apprehension of the suspect.

ACP Khan says joint efforts by all stakeholders including members of the business communities have greatly assisted Police operations.
