Six men from Vukavu, Naceva, Kadavu will be playing in Suva for the first time at the 45th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s which starts tomorrow.

The AFL Naisogoceva Brothers are looking forward to learning from the experience.

And being placed in the same pool with the defending champions, Tabadamu, is a great challenge for them, says utility back Ulaiasi Natuke.

“Despite playing in Suva for the first time, we are just as capable as any other team here,” he said.

“Tabadamu has been playing in various 7s in Kadavu and we have seen the way they play, we are as prepared as any team here.”

Coach Waisale Koroiwasa said they were here to develop their 7s skills.

“This is the first time for us to be playing in Viti Levu, brought in six boys from the village, a few in Suva and two in Nadi,” he said.

“Last week was the first time for them to play together in Lautoka.

“And I am working on few weaknesses such as defence and passes.

“We had been working hard to participate in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s. And we are thankful to a fellow villager now residing in Australia who has been supporting us.

“And we also thank AFL (All Freight Logistics), for supporting us, especially in developing these young players from Naisogoceva.

“This will be a major boost for the boys and we will do our best.”

They are in Pool A with CK Ezy Buy Tabadamu, Lami Cavaliers and B Town Blues.
