Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber is now finalising his squad for the Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan, which is from July 23 to August 8.

Baber yesterday named a strong 15-member squad to play as Fiji Shadow in the Fiji Bitter Sapphire Marist 7s tournament at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

The three-day tournament starts today.

However, a surprise omission from the side is lanky Police Blue prop, Rusiate Nasove.

Also dropped is rover Kaminieli Rasaku who has been named in the Tabadamu side along with Kavekini Tabu. The LAR Barbarians have got in Olympian playmaker Vatemo Ravouvou, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Emosi Mulevoro.

Also included in the Fiji Shadow side are veteran forwards, Josua Vakurunabili and Kalione Nasoko.

The side is expected to be led by Meli Derenalagi and veteran halfback Jerry Tuwai.

Baber has also indicated that they are considering to travel and play a few games in Australia.

He said there were a lot of issues in relation to travel and quarantine while staying in Australia.

“There are still some logistics and finance that needed to be worked out before anything is confirmed,” Baber said.
