Communications Fiji Limited (CFL) is the broadcasting partner for Fiji Fashion Week (FFW) following a signing ceremony that marked a 10-year partnership agreement.

FJFW managing director, Ellen Whippy-Knight said in a world dominated by mobile phones, tablets and computers, radio still had the widest audience and could still reach the masses that were unable to access the internet.

“CFL’s power to educate and inform in everyday life and emergencies as well as to promote the arts is so important and possibly even more so today,” she said.

“The partnership that our two companies, FFW and CFL, have had over the last decade has helped us showcase talented creatives of Fiji and the Pacific to the world.”

She said FFW was part of the global community of events which sought to propel to the limelight the work of the creative artists around.

“In Fiji, that work is important because it means our rich culture and the talented people who are inspired by our unique traditions can continue to showcase our pacific people and earn a living from their art.”

Ms Whippy-Knight commended CFL’s efforts and unwavering support towards global effort to project Fiji and the Pacific on the international runway.

CFL general manager Charles Taylor said the partnership between the two companies dated back to FFW’s inception 14 years ago.

“We’ve helped out wherever we could,” he said.

“We believe in the show, we believe in the initiative behind the show and that is to grow designers.

“We also believe in the brand that has endured COVID-19.”

He said despite the global pandemic, Fiji Fashion Week had managed to pull off shows without a hitch.

“We are very proud of the success of Fiji Fashion Week as well,” Mr Taylor said.

He said there were plans to improve the show with the broadcasting partnership, and to keep moving forward.
