Officers from the Fiji Immigration Department yesterday raided the head office of a company employing Bangladeshi nationals.

The raid comes after the intervention of the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission’s investigations.

It is believed that the officers were there to retrieve the passports of the expats.

It was claimed that the company held onto the passports when the workers arrived into the country.

In an earlier report, commission director Ashwin Raj said the confiscation of any person’s travel or identity documents was an offence as per section 112 (5) (b) of the Crimes Act 2009.
