Sigabalavu and the deceased, Seini Tagilala, 23, spent the night of June 6, 2019 at a hotel. The next morning, they had an argument concerning Sigabalavu’s attachment to an ex-girlfriend.

Sigabalavu, who was heavily intoxicated, punched the deceased on her head and face several times, the deceased suffered serious injuries. She was taken to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Justice Temo told Sigabalavu: “The facts of your case demonstrated once again the all too familiar problem of young males’ inability to control their temper in relating to their female partners.

“This kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated by right thinking members of the society and you must accept that you have to be punished,” he said.
