The Fiji Sports Council is investigating an alleged incident involving boys from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS), verbally harassing girls from International Secondary School in Suva. (ISS)

While investigations continue, RKS students are believed to have been banned from using the Damodar Aquatic Centre.

The Fiji Sports Council has refused to comment on the matter and will issue a statement once statements from both institutions have been received.

While investigations continue, the RKS Principal has also opted not to comment, since he had not received a report of the incident.

ISS senior administrator Hector Hatch said the incident happened at the Aquatic Centre more than a week ago. He said the RKS students allegedly passed comments in the iTaukei language to the ISS girls. He said the girls did not take much notice as they did not understand what was being said.

Mr Hatch said the ISS teachers understood what was said and were not pleased at the language being used. He said they reported the matter to the RKS teachers and also let the pool staff know.

Mr Hatch said ISS took all action to protect their students and hoped the matter was resolved amicably.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar said the matter is to be resolved within the administration of the schools.
