The Digicel Fijian football team will be conducting monthly camps from now on, says national head coach Flemming Serritslev.

He told SUNsports yesterday that this is to prepare the team for the World Cup qualifier in January next year.

While the venue of the qualifier has not been confirmed, Serritslev said, preparation is very important.

The national training squad held its first camp at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba, last week.

Serritslev indicated that it was a good camp after a long break.

The camp will be a week-long before they will have two weeks camp from October.

“The players worked very hard while in camp,” he said.

“They had a good level of fitness despite the long break. From October we will have two weeks of camp before we go in for the whole month of December.

“This is to prepare for the World Cup qualifier in January.

“Due to the COVID-19 situation we are in right mode now, the team should be prepared for everything,” Serritsev added.

With the Digicel Premier League season now underway, he will also be looking for new talents.

“There are a lot of players, we will change two or three players from time to time and try to bring in younger players to mingle with the experienced ones.”
