The first of its kind, Holi By The Beach party by Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay was a huge success.

With over 120 guests turnout, the resort had partnered with P Meghji for Corona beers, DJ Skitz for live music and VOU dance group for refreshing dance performances.

According to resort general manager Silvano Dressino, the event marked the religious Hindu festival Holi.

“The event marks the welcome of spring, love and also the festival of colours,” he said.

“Since we are in a sort of black and white world due to COVID-19, we thought we need to bring some joy.”

“That’s why we thought of doing the first Holi by the Beach event at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.”

Mr Dressino added Marriott as a company believed in inclusion and diversity, which the event helped showcase.

“We love our locals, as you know, so we are trying new ways for them to come back to the resort and enjoy our services,” he said.

He said the event also had a special menu by guest chef Onkar Singh from the Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa, where Indian delicacies with special spices were created for the guests.

Director of the P Meghji Group of Companies, Romit Meghji, who has had a longstanding partnership with the Fiji Marriott Resort group, said the event was inclusive to all groups and showed the diversity of Fiji.

“Before Holi used to be a festival for the Hindu population, but now it’s something everyone can enjoy.”

“I would recommend the resort to anyone who wants to come, and have a pleasant stay.”

Additionally, director of administration for Lords Jewellers Pte Limited, Rajen Kumar said the event symbolised the theme of Holi: reflecting the colors of one’s lives.

“It means coming out of darkness, a triumph of good over evil,” he said.

Spending time with his wife at the event, Mr Kumar has also recommended the resort to locals for its warm welcome and service.

Momi Bay Sunset Series
Meanwhile, Mr Dressino highlighted the resort would launch Momi Bay Sunset Series, inspired by beach clubs and holiday destinations across the world.

“The idea has been inspired by incorporating food, cocktails, music, and ambience for our local travellers who longed to experience a holiday at a different setting while borders are closed,” he said.

“We will incorporate the coastal favorites in one single event, right here at Fish Bar and Infinity Pool in Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.”
