Fumigation and the general washing of the Suva Municipal Market will take place this weekend.

Suva and Lami special administrator Isikeli Tikoduadua confirmed that the Easter Weekend provided the perfect timing for the general washing.

The Suva Municipal Market will be closed on Easter Friday April 2, Sunday April 4 and Easter Monday April 5.

“The market will be open for normal operations on Saturday. The central market will be closed on all other days,” Mr Tikoduadua said.

“The Suva City Council will utilise Sunday and Monday to do the general cleaning.”

The general cleanup and fumigation will allow the council to maintain a safe and hygienic place for people to sell their produce.

Mr Tikoduadua highlighted that the Olympic Pool will only be closed on Easter Friday.

He said the council realised that the pool would become very busy because people will look for things to do within the city.

Meanwhile, the Nausori and Laqere Markets have indicated that they too would be closed on Easter Friday and reopen on Saturday for business.
