Labasa Town Embarks On Green Town Initiative

The Labasa Town Council is embarking on harnessing renewal energy by installing solar panels at its Municipal Market and Bus Station facilities.
Labasa Town special administrator Doreen Robinson, said the council was keen to have solar power installation among other green initiatives.
She said they have had informal talks with at least one company so far as part of their exploration plans into this area.
“The object of the exercise is to eventually make Labasa a “green” town,” Ms Robinson said.
However, she said the council was currently not in a position to release any budgetary information or decisions regarding the project.
The council invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from local companies or suppliers specialised in the supply and installation of Solar Power Systems.
