Nausori Bus Stops’ Woes

It is a nightmare laden with litter at some bus shelters in Nausori Town.
The Nausori Town Council has to deal with this issue on a daily basis because people are now leaving household refuse and garbage bags there.
Nausori special administrator Uma Kant Patel said rubbish piled at Vunimono Bus Stop opposite the Nausori Fire Station and at the bus stop in Vunimono has become a regular occurrence.
“We provided additional new rubbish bins at the old Bau Road bus shelter so that people can place rubbish in the bin,” he said.
“Some people are so irresponsible that not only they dump all sorts of household rubbish at bus stops but also leave it on the main street in the town.
“And someone has taken the additional bin we had provided at a bus stop only a week ago.”
Mr Patel said it was frustrating as people are not managing their garbage.
He said there was a need for a change in behaviour.
Mr Patel said that was why there was a need to hire more litter prevention officers to curb such behaviour.
