Police Probe Tamavua Aggravated Burglary Claims

Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua says Police are investigating allegations of an aggravated burglary where one man was stabbed by the suspects.
Mahendra Lal, 60, of Volavola Road in Tamavua claimed that last Saturday three masked men, armed with a knife entered his home.
Mr Lal and his son Adrian, 37, allegedly put up a fight against the three, but in the process the younger man was stabbed in the hands and stomach.
“It was around 5am. A taxi stopped in the front of the house. Three men got out and entered the compound by cutting through the fence,” Mr Lal claimed.
“They then used a crow bar to lift the burglar gate and broke the door. I met them in the house and they started throwing punches. I fought back.
“My son joined the fight and until one of them stabbed him. They took my gold chain, laptop, mobile and cash.”
Mr Lal, the owner of LB Masters in Suva, claimed that the street light in front of his house had not been working and he had complained about it several time.
He said if the light was working then people could have seen the taxi.
