The new Nasese Bridge will be completed by the end of December 2021.

However, it will take another year for all other works including roads to be completed according to the Fiji Roads Authority’s new programme.

Acting chief executive officer Kamal Prasad said the contractor, China Railway Five Group, has completed all the pile driving works.

“Pile concrete pouring is in progress on the western abutment,” he said.

“Casting of prestressed beam – seven completed out of 10 – and abutment pouring is planned in the coming week,” he said.

“The road drainage upgradation works along area one from Ratu Sukuna Road intersection to Vuya Road intersection is in progress.

“The utilities upgradation works (TFL, EFL & WAF mains) along area one will proceed in a fortnight’s time.

“As of now, CR5G has programmed to complete the project work by 31 December 2022.”

Under the Queen Elizabeth Drive upgradation project phase two, all the existing utility services infrastructure will be completed.

The authority would also make provision for a bicycle lane, pedestrian crossings, bus bay and bus shelter, street lighting, improvised safety features in the upgradation works.

“Three roundabouts are proposed under the project to ease the traffic movement along the Queen Elizabeth Drive and the connecting roads,” Mr Prasad said.
