GPH Records Largest Day Guests Yet

Grand Pacific Hotel is planning more family days, following the success of the its activity-filled Easter weekend.
The hotel, one of Suva’s oldest, marked its largest volume of day guest at the weekend, since COVID-19.
“Certainly busier than last year,” said area general manager Lachlan Walker, yesterday.
Upcoming activities will include pizza making calls, and a traditional scone baking class for children, he said.
“The children make the scones which the family can sit down to high tea to enjoy along with other treats,” he said.
“Stay tuned on our Facebook page for details.”
Tee Off
Since the tee-off to the Easter activities at the hotel, an estimated 120 guests have arrived on a daily basis for the popular breakfast spread, and the freshly baked waffles, he said.
Enjoying the live music, sunset on Thursday with Tapas, the Seafood and Vegetarian barbecue on Friday lunch were very popular, Mr Walker said.
“Over 50 children participated in activities on the lawn on Saturday, and in the air conditioned ballroom,” he said.
“The most popular event has been the Sunday Roast family dinner, with a twist by way of the great band The Gang which added a great cool vibe throughout the evening on Levuka Terrace.”
Today’s brunch looks popular to round the weekend off, Mr Walker said.
World-famous guests
Built in 1914, the Grand Pacific Hotel has hosted royalty, including Queen Elizabeth II, who has visited the hotel on three occasions.
Prince Harry and his wife Megan Markle were among recent global celebrities to stay at the five-star luxury accommodation hotel.
The couple were in Fiji in 2018.
World leaders, business executives and leisure travellers have also stayed at the hotel.
By next year, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) plans to rebrand Grand Pacific Hotel to InterContinental Grand Pacific Hotel Suva.
It will be IHG’s third hotel in Fiji, and the second for the brand, alongside InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola Bay, which is also owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund.
Last year, IHG signed an agreement with FNPF to take over management of the Grand, alongside its management of the InterContinental Natadola Bay and Suva Holiday Inn.
