Ketenavu Netball Club will make a return to the Paradise Beverages-sponsored Nadi Netball Association weekly club competition after a lapse of nine years.

Club president Akanisi Ratu said the club was founded in 2003 but stopped competing in 2012 due to financial constraints.

Their season begins proper on May 1 but knockout matches are scheduled for April 17.

“Our club was founded through support of the community,” she said.

“A group of former players decided to revive the club because we have capable young girls who are willing to represent our village club of Moala.”

The club is looking for playing and training materials.

“These will help us prepare for the challenge and knockout tournaments,” she added.

Association’s vice-president Bill Taylor said 14 affiliated clubs would take part.

“Last year we had nine clubs but this year we have 14, ”Taylor said.

“ We need to develop these cubs for the future because we believe a lot of these young ones will surely make it big one day.”

Joining the association are Ketanavu (Moala), Gaunavou (Namotomoto) and Navoci.

The seven categories are Under-9 (Princess), U11 (Roses), U13 (Lewa Sewa), U17 (Violet), U21 (Youth), Open Women, and Open Men.
