Let’s Go Local: Vatulele for National Rugger Jiuta Wainiqolo

Former Flying Fijians winger, Jiuta Wainiqolo is one name to look out for.
Recently representing the Fiji Shadows rugby team at the Fiji Bitter Sapphire Marist 7s, Mr Wainiqolo is part of the national 7s training squad for the Tokyo Olympics in July, this year.
Originally from Rakiraki, Ra, the young rugger said he had always dreamt of donning the white Fiji Rugby jersey – a dream now becoming a reality.
What Are Some Of Your Hobbies?
I love playing rugby and volleyball, travelling and having a good laugh.
How Many Places In Fiji Have You Been To?
I have been around Viti Levu because of rugby tournaments, Yasawa islands, Savusavu and Taveuni.
What Is The One Place In Fiji You Would Take Visitors To, And Why?
I would take every visitor to Vatulele island because I have heard it’s beautiful.
Nice white sandy beaches, and lovely blue ocean.

What Is Your Favourite Secret Backyard Spot, And Why?
It would be the beaches along Coral Coast.
It is so beautiful, clean, and quiet.
What Is Your Favourite Place For A Pie Or Coffee?
I love the coffee at any McDonald’s branch.
It is simple, affordable, and tasty – all at the same time.
What Is The One Destination On Your Bucket List And Why?
It would be Vatulele island.
More specifically, my mother’s village called Ekubu village.
I have not been there yet, but would love to go there someday.
I have heard of its beauty – lovely beaches and landscape.
I would love to see it for myself one day.
