The two men involved in the ‘bloody attack’ at the Public Rental Board (PRB) barrack at Mead Road, Nabua, on January 3 this year, will spend two years in jail and another one year is suspended for three years.

Tevita Badogo, 27, and Eroni Bale, 27, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe yesterday for their sentencing after pleading guilty to three counts of act with intent to cause grievous harm.

Justice Rajasinghe said the crimes committed by Badogo and Bale warranted an immediate custodial sentence because it was a serious offence.

He said the level of harm, in this case, was high and the amount of violence used on vulnerable victims causing serious injuries were also high.

“It was a pre-planned, sudden and brutal attack that was committed by the two offenders on the three victims,” Justice Rajasinghe said.

Badogo and Bale were ordered to serve two years imprisonment and another one year period is suspended for a period of three years.

In considering three months spent in remand, Justice Rajasinghe ordered that Badogo and Bale serve a period of one year and nine months in custody with a non-parole period of nine months.

On January 3, 2021, Badogo and Bale broke the door of a flat at one of the blocks and assaulted three men who were inside.

They hit the three men with a torch, coconut scraper and a drum.
