Komaisavai Confirms Deactivating His Facebook Account

Komaisavai Confirms Deactivating His Facebook Account

SODELPA Nasinu Constituency vice-president Isikeli Komaisavai has confirmed in court that he had deactivated his Facebook page.

Komaisavai is accused of posting on social media a call for the Attorney-General to be shot. He appeared before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa yesterday.

He told the court that he deactivated his account, however, his mobile phone was still in Criminal Investigations Department custody.

He was told to make representations to the CID Headquarters regarding his mobile phone.

Komaisavai is charged with one count of causing harm by posting the said electronic communication in breach of  the Online Safety Act 2018.

The alleged incident happened on February 10, 2021, at Suva.

The matter was called for plea on the charge yesterday, however, the Director of Public Prosecutions filed an amended charge against Komaisavai.

The matter has been adjourned for plea on May 10.

Bail for Komaisavai has been extended.
