Twenty new lawyers from the University of Fiji have been told to conduct themselves in a professional manner when dealing with colleagues who may be intimidating.

In his address at their bar admission yesterday, Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar told the new lawyers not to be discouraged or disheartened if they faced lawyers who raised their voice to scare or upset them.

And to control themselves by not reacting in the same manner.

“There is a difference between being a lawyer and practicing law,” Acting Chief Justice Kumar said.

“Almost anyone has the capacity to become a lawyer, but not all can become a successful practitioner. You will need to be disciplined, hardworking, committed and dedicated in all respects.”
