The Suva Under-19 rugby side started their Skipper Provincial Cup campaign with a 30-3 win over defending champions Nadroga at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports Suva U19 manager Malakai Tuwere said, the win has set the bar for them this season.

“It’s a great win in our first game of the season,” he said.

“This game really set the bar and the phase for another long season and a big thank you to the boys for a job well done.”

Tuwere said of their players were first-timers and were excited to play.

“It’s good to see that the boys stuck to the game plan right through the game.”

He added that the team would have to work on their mistakes before their game next week.

“We’ll have to improve on our defence and ruck areas,” he said.

“Our passing also have to stick and our finishing had to be better. Sometimes we lacked communication, which is something important during the game but the boys picked that up.

“Come next week we will be prepared for  Rewa and we’ll improve on areas that we lacked in.”
