Alvick Maharaj to Youths: Take Ownership Of Your Clubs and Roles

Youths are the leaders of today!
This is what Assistant Minister for Youth Alvick Maharaj told young people at the Labasa District Youth Council awards night at Labasa Special School on Saturday. The awards night was hosted by the Labasa District Youth Council co-ordinator Shanil Mohammed.
Youths at the awards night were told by Mr Maharaj that Government believes that youths were no longer the leaders of the future, but the leaders of today.
Mr Maharaj advised the youths to take ownership of their clubs and their roles.

Meanwhile, first time Youth Development Awardee, Lomavata Youth Club president Viliame Tuilevuka said they did not expect to get an award.
“Our youth club was formed two years ago for our mataqali Nasekula in order to keep our youth occupied as to stay away from criminal activities,” Mr Tuilevuka said.
“There are 40 members in the Lomavata Youth Club with 10 females and 30 males.
“Mainly we have been doing some farming initiatives to generate income for our club.
“We’re also working on other projects and assisted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports because they have donated some of our farming equipment.
“I am so thankful that it is through our team work that we’re able to achieve this award,” he said.
