Sport events in Nadi provides a platform for Litia Ramenawa and Lynette Antonio to generate some income for themselves.

With that money, the smiling duo would go on to put food on their respective family’s table.

Mrs Ramenawa, a former hotel worker, and Ms Antonio a former administrator at a private school, lost their jobs during the pandemic , after which they established a small business at the Nadi market.

On Saturday, they were among the vendors selling food with other produce during the INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother Sullivan Trophy between Nadi and Rewa at the Prince Charles Park ground.

The 58-year-old mother of one said the sport tournaments held in Nadi provide income for laid off workers like her to help support the family.

“I really appreciated this kind of event which gives us an opportunity especially tourism workers that have been laid off ever since March last year. We have been struggling and trying to meet ends.”
