More interaction with customers is the best way of managing business, in light of COVID-19 pandemic, says new Tower Insurance country manager, Joseph Magnus.

Appointed as the country manager in November last year, Mr Magnus said the Tower Insurance team had implemented programmes to increase meaningful conversations with customers.

“I have worked closely with the team here to implement a structured customers sales and service process, and a corporate presentation programme which enables us to go out in the communities and educate people about the importance of insurance,” he said.

He said the two programmes increased interaction with customers about their needs, financial situations, the services provided by the company and how the company could bridge the three items.

“While we’ve only been doing this for a short time, we are already seeing a positive response from our customers because we are showing them that we are here for them and taking our services to their workplace.”

Speaking to SunBiz, he highlighted the global pandemic was the biggest challenge faced by the country, which was why Tower Insurance was pushing for more interactive programmes.

Mr Magnus added there were also a lot of exciting developments in the pipelines.

“The company has invested significantly in their technology platforms which allows us to work remotely if needed and sell insurance fully digitally.

“We launched our fully digital car insurance product earlier this year which was a Fiji first.”

He said staying involved and inspiring his team by coaching them was essential in his new leadership role.

“I also work hard on being approachable and have an open mind which is important as a leader to listen to our people and accept constructive criticism.”

About Tower Insurance
According to the Tower Insurance website, the company is one of Fiji’s longest-standing insurance companies.

The company accommodates for motor, house, contents, business, and travel insurances.

Tower Insurance operates in eight different Pacific countries and is headquartered in New Zealand.

The company’s history in Fiji dates to 1874 when The National Insurance Company of New Zealand appointed its first agent in Levuka, Fiji.

In time, to bring the company closer to their Fijian operations, a new company was established called The National Insurance Company of Fiji, taking over the operations of the Fiji branch on September 1, 1974.

In 1999, the National Insurance Company of Fiji Limited changed its name to Tower Insurance Fiji Limited in line with the demutualisation of its parent company.
