Fiji’s largest locally owned and managed hotel, Tanoa Hotel Group, has taken a lead role in the push for COVID-19 vaccination.

The plan is to get their entire hotel staff families vaccinated as soon as possible.

So far, staff members from five out of six hotels in the group have been vaccinated with the move to register their immediate staff families as well.

In doing this, Tanoa Hotel Group also plans to have all their properties registered as a safe destination for guests.

The group has been assisting the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MOHMS) to achieve the targeted number of people who need to be vaccinated.

The COVID-19 vaccination teams also continue to administer the vaccine across the nation.

Tanoa Hotels Area general manager, Narend Kumar, says they look to the future optimistically, even though  Fiji’s borders remain closed to most while the vaccination continues to rollout.

“Once registered, the Tanoa team will coordinate with the MOHMS based on availability to organise a day for vaccination,” Mr Kumar said.

“This is when we will invite all the families to one of the Tanoa hotels, so that everybody gets vaccinated under one roof that is also convenient to them.”

Tanoa Group Human Resources manager, Sharol Kumar Vere, said the core principles of Tanoa Hotel are based on family values.

“Business decisions affect not only the staff, but their families too. We understand our staff wellbeing is entwined to their families at home,” she said.

“This initiative is to make life easier for our people and is another demonstration of the Tanoa way at its best.”

Meanwhile, the vaccination roll-out is a dynamic process and it is imperative that alleligible frontline employees register to get the vaccine.
