The Nausori Town Council will be opening tenders next week for the upgrade of Ratu Cakobau Park.

Nausori and Nasinu special administrator Uma Kant Patel said the tenders would look at the proposed scope of work planned for the pavilion.

Ratu Cakobau Park had been closed after sustaining damages from Tropical Cyclone Ana.

Mr Patel said there was no issue with the ground but with the pavilion.

He said the roof needed repairs and there was need to improve some other areas to make it compliant to the Occupational Health and Safety standards required.

According to Mr Patel there was no booking for usage of Ratu Cakobau Park for another month.

In February this year, Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar said the estimated cost to repair Ratu Cakobau Park was between $130,000 to $150,000.

“It is not just the fence that went down but there are a lot more leakages as well as the seats are rotting and it needs replacement,” Ms Kumar had stated.

Ratu Cakobau Park serves Nausori and Tailevu based sporting teams as their home ground.
