Today Ashna covered the following court proceedings:
1. The Magistrates Court in Suva will set hearing dates for the case of the Fiji Trades Union Congress and National Workers Union general secretary on November 8.
The accused, Felix Anthony is facing a charge for allegedly making a malicious comment. Anthony appeared before Magistrate Waleen George.
2. Congo national’s defence lawyer, Laurel Vaurasi has been given time from the trial to review the state’s evidence in the case.
The matter was called today before Justice Vinsent Perera for the third day of trial, however, the court adjourned the matter after Ms Vaurasi indicated to the court that she wanted to spend time with the accused, Kiala Lusaka in order to get his instructions regarding certain disclosures and the evidence that had come up so far in the trial.
