Old Girls Assist Athletes

The 24 Ballantine Memorial School athletes for the 2021 Coke Games next week received a timely boosted from their older sisters, members of the Walusaiva Group, who donated sporting uniforms worth over $2000.

The Walusaiva Group, both overseas and local based-members donated individually for the sporting outfits.

BMS principal Tokasa Wilson was delighted with the support from the old scholars.

“We’re delighted with this timely support, it’s a shot in the arm for our athletes,” Wilson said.

BMS Walusaiva Group local president, Mei Niumataiwalu, said former students in the 80s collected over $2000 to purchase the uniforms.

“This is a new partnership and we welcome the support from old girls.

“This is an investment to better lives for our younger sisters. We hope it’ll go a long way in boosting the school’s morale,”Niumataiwalu said.

She said they hope to work closely with the school in other major projects. The three-day competition kicks off next Thursday.
