Former national rugby flanker Ilami Lutumailagi has called on Jack’s Nadi to crank into top gear against Naitasiri on Saturday.

He stressed the Jets need to be at their extra best to defend the INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy in round two of the Skipper Provincial Cup competition at Prince Charles Park.

Being the former Nadi coach/player, he knows the pain and glory of winning or losing the coveted silverware against the Highlanders.

Lutumailagi said the Ron Katonivere-captained needed to shift into overdrive after the 25-15 win over Rewa last Saturday.

Both teams secured bonus point wins over Rewa and Northland in round one and Lutumailagi predicted the clash should live up to expectations.

“The Highlanders are always tough and it’s always serious business from the start to now,” Lutumailagi said.

“The Jets will need to communicate more and refrain from playing catch-up. We trailed Rewa 8-10 at one stage and we can’t afford a repeat against Naitasiri.”

Lutumailagi recalled that playing against Naitasiri North and changing the name to Naitasiri brought about unpredictability to the game.

“This team is more unpredictable since they bring players from all Fiji unlike before where the Naitasiri diehards represent the province.”
