A try by Suva’s first five Enele Malele right on fulltime saw them beat Rewa 24-17 in the Skipper Provincial Cup clash at the Burebasaga ground yesterday.

Suva coach Sakaraia Labalaba praised the Rewa team for their gallant effort.

“Rewa really played well,” he said.

Labalaba said playing in front of a very patriotic crowd really motivated them as they held on right to the last minute.

Rewa coach Ro Alifereti Doviverata said they wanted to win all their home games but they lost to a well-prepared side.

“We tried our best and we really tested the Suva heavy pack,” he said.

What happened: Rewa scored their first try in the 15th minute to centre Taito Rauluni and was converted by first five Sailosi Aka for a 7-0 lead.

Suva replied in the 26th minute by a try to fullback Savenaca Uluibau and was not converted. He scored his second unconverted try.

A penalty by Rewa’s Aka saw the two teams tied.

Halftime: Rewa 10-10 Suva.

Malele scored his first try and converted it for a 17-10 lead.

In the 72nd minute Rewa No.9 Sireli Biumaiwai crashed over for a try for the conversion levelling the scores at 17-17. Then it was Malele to turns thing around.
