Today Ashna covered the following court proceedings:
1. The High Court in Suva has fixed two weeks for trial in the case where a 43-year old carpenter is facing arson and murder charges.
Arvind Chand Rai appeared before Justice Salesi Temo.
Rai is charged with one count each of arson and of the murder of a 35-year-old woman.
2. “Just I met her with poison from is dad, is dad send her poison to give me. So let go together.”
These were the words written on a note found by Detective Inspector Petero Loli while he searched the crime scene where the body of 44-year-old wife Jennifer Anne Downes, an Australian national was found and allegedly murdered at.
Inspector Loli read the note in court while giving evidence as the prosecution’s witness in the trial of Kiala Lusaka at the High Court in Suva today.
