Police Probe Labasa Home Invasion

A knife-wielding man who injured occupants of the home he allegedly intended to rob fled the scene after his plan was foiled.

Police received a report on Friday that a man allegedly attempted to enter the home of Jamuna Prasad in Sarava, Labasa.

It is believed that the suspect tried to enter the house from the back door.

However, his plan was foiled when he encountered Mr Prasad’s wife.

The suspect is believed to have grabbed her by the neck and used his dagger to fend off the fight from Mr Prasad’s son, who tried to save his mother.

In the process, the son was injured and the suspect fled the scene.

Both mother and son were sent to Labasa Hospital where they were treated and sent home.

Sarava Settlement is about a 10-15 minutes drive from Labasa Town.

Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua said investigations were ongoing.
