COVID-19: Repatriation, Fiji Link Domestic Flights Suspended

Fiji Airways has suspended repatriation and Fiji Link domestic flights from today and onwards.
In a statement last night, Fiji Airways said the announcement was part of the Government’s efforts to shut down further community transmissions of COVID-19 by implementing a number of restrictions around domestic and international flight movements.
Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong, said that all international flights into and out of Fiji for non-medical purposes are suspended.
“As for international flights, we are suspending all passenger air travel into and out of Fiji for non-medical purposes. We need every available room in quarantine for Fijians in Fiji at this time,” he said.
Also from midday today, the ministry has suspended outbound inter-island passenger travel from Viti Levu, while passengers can travel to Viti Levu.
However, he confirmed that only freight services will continue.
This was determined after the announcement of a new local transmission case in Wainitarawau Settlement, Cunningham by the ministry yesterday.
He added that the scenario of containing the virus throughout the maritime regions all at once should be avoided at all cost.
Fiji Airways and Fiji Link advises customers booked to travel from today (April 22) onwards to note the following important announcement.
Fiji Link
- All domestic flights originally scheduled to depart Suva today are cancelled.
- All flights into Suva from Vanua Levu and outer islands for today will operate as planned, albeit with some delays expected.
- Details for domestic flights into Suva from tomorrow onwards will be announced today.
- All flights into and out of Nadi remain cancelled.
- All domestic schedules will be reviewed in line with any changes announced by Fijian authorities.
Fiji Airways Repatriation Flights
- The Nadi-Auckland (FJ 1411) and Auckland-Nadi (FJ 1410) repatriation flights for today will operate as scheduled.
- All other international repatriation flights into and from Fiji between tomorrow to April 26 are cancelled.
