The Labasa football team have a chance of improving their standing on the Digicel Premier League points table.

The Babasiga Lions host points table leaders Lautoka in the final round of the DPL competition.

The clash which was scheduled for this weekend has been moved to the weekend of May 8-9.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said that is 14 days after the lockdown.

“As of now all level of football and our grassroots programme have been put on hold for 14 days,” he said.

“Everything will resume on the weekend of May 8-9.

“That includes the final round of the Digicel Premier League, which is one week before the Digicel Fiji FACT tournament.”

Labasa football captain Akuila Mateisuva said they are expecting a tough game from Lautoka.

“Lautoka is a strong team and we know that we are in for a tough time,” he said.

Similar sentiments came from Labasa coach, Ravneet Pratap, who said they have to work hard if they are to beat Lautoka.

The Blues under wily coach Imdad Ali have been impressive with wins over Ba and Nadroga.

They have found their mojo with striker Sairusi Nalaubu scoring in every game.

Meanwhile, Yusuf has called on the Fiji FA family to follow all health protocols set by the Ministry of Health.

“We support Government’s move to keep our country safe and we also applaud the hard work done by the front liners,” he said.
