I love Fiji, says Silvano Dressino.

The general manager for Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, has lived in Fiji for almost five years.

“Having worked in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, I never found anywhere with more friendlier people and with the Bula spirit,” he said.

Mr Dressino along with his wife and two children, loves hiking.

 

About Mr Silvano
Mr Silvano started his career with Marriott International in 1996 as assistant to the regional public relations manager at the Marriott Regional Office in Eschborn, Germany.

Working for Marriott International has allowed Mr Silvano to pursue various roles in international markets, including general manager at Shanghai Pudong Hotel, China, resident manager at JW

Marriott Hotel Hong Kong and director of reservation sales at Munich Marriott Hotel.

Mr Silvano was interim general manager at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, where he successfully managed the pre-opening activity of the 634 room, flagship property, that opened in late December, 2016.

Prior to this, he was general manager for JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya, where he initiated a wide range of customer service initiatives and achieved a 10 per cent year-on-year growth in guest satisfaction scores.

 

What are some of your hobbies?
I love diving, I love playing Sunday soccer and I play some golf.

And I love to hike in the Sabeto hills.

How many places in Fiji have you been to?
We have been to Savusavu just recently.

We have driven along Queens and Kings highway around the island.

We have also been to Sigatoka Valley and the Mamanucas.

 

What is that one spot in Fiji that you would take every visitor to, and why?
Fiji also called the tropical capital of the world.

I would take every visitor under the sea to see the beautiful marine life of Fiji and beautiful soft corals.

What is your favourite place in Fiji for a pie/coffee, and why?
I love the BirdRock café, in Nadi because it is so small and quaint.

 

What is your favourite secret backyard spot?
Navilawa village because not many people know about it.

It is an upper mountain village in the Koroyanitu Range, Ba.

 

What is the one spot in Fiji on the top of your bucket list?
Diving and snorkelling with the Manta Rays in the Yasawas.
