Ex-Cop Serves Lunch To Frontliners At Checkpoint

Police officers manning the checkpoint at Momi junction outside Nadi yesterday got a little boost from former Police officer, Mun Sami Chetty. Mr Chetty, who had previously served 23 years on the Fiji Police Force, served lunch to the frontliners.
“I was like them once and do understand what they do, because they are away from home. I continue to salute the profession as it was where it all began for me,” he said.
“I respect and I am proud of those comrades who are in the force manning the checkpoints during these times we are in.”
Mr Chetty served three years with the Police mobile unit before he joined the prosecution department in Nadi for seven years, in Sigatoka for 11 years, and for two years in Lautoka.
The officers were grateful to Mr Chetty for his kind gesture.
Meanwhile, technology continues in aiding Police operations.
“We continue to monitor the Nadi and Lautoka containment areas from Qeleloa bearing towards Sigatoka to Nacilau, Vakabuli and the Waiwai crossing bearing towards Ba,” Police said in a statement.
“CCTV Cameras have been and continue to be mounted in strategic locations along these areas maximising our ability to monitor the situation on the ground and is being closely observed at the Police Command Coordination Centre based at the Totogo Police Station in Suva.”
