COVID-19: Only Urgent Matters Will Be Dealt By Courts Across Viti Levu

In consideration for health and safety of the public and measures taken by our Government, all Courts, Small Claims Tribunal and other Tribunals in Viti Levu will be closed until further notice.

  • Only urgent matters will be dealt by the Courts.
  • Except for Urgent Matters, all matters listed for hearing or mention/review/pretrial conference or any other reason will be vacated and fresh dates will be assigned.
  • Urgent matters include Accused brought to Court for 1st Time; Remandees brought to Court; Applications for Habeas Corpus; Absconding Warrants; DVRO Applications; Child Recovery Cases; Ex-parte Applications and those approved by the Acting Chief Justice, Chief Registrar or Chief Magistrate.
  • Unrepresented litigants are not required to be present in Lautoka and Nadi
  • Courts or Tribunals on the scheduled date and they will be informed of the next mention date in due course.
  • Senior Court Officers in liaison with Judicial Officers will exercise their discretion in determining whether matter is urgent or not.
  • The lockdown period for greater Lautoka and Nadi areas, shall not be reckoned in the computation of time prescribed by Supreme Court, Court of Appeal or High Court Rules, Family Court Rules, Employment Relations Regulations for Tribunals and Courts or as directed by any Judicial Officer, Chief Registrar, Deputy Registrars, Registrar and Assistant Registrar for amending delivery or filing of any Documents, Affidavits, Submissions or Pleadings or doing of any act.

From today, all Court Registries in Viti Levu will operate with limited staff. For any urgent matters following officers may be contacted:-
