Rookie Naitasiri lock Chris Minimbi revealed that it was one of the toughest match he had ever played as they secured the INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy against Nadi at Prince Charles Park, two weeks ago.

The last five minutes of the game was the toughest moment between the two sides when Nadi piled numerous pressure to score a converted try and probably had hope of retaining the prestigious silverware.

“We knew it was their home ground and they would come strong,” Minimbi said.

“It was obvious in the last five minutes when we were under a lot of pressure to stop them from scoring their winning points. We were fortunate that their player dropped the ball on the line otherwise who knows the result at the end would have been something else.

“The pressure we were under is just too hard to describe” he said.

“For me personally, this was one of the toughest games as we put our bodies on the line to secure the INNK Farebrother Trophy against the holders. I thank our players who stood tall until the last minute and I think mental preparation helped us in this match.

“We were tough and despite being under so much pressure in the last quarter of the game, we knew that if we do the basics right and defend in a correct manner we were surely going to win” said Minimbi.

Naitasiri official Maciu Koroi said its always a mammoth task to beat Nadi at their home ground and they are fortunate to do this in the second round.

“Our defence was a bit scrappy in the first half but we came stronger in the second spell and managed to hold Nadi at bay” recalled Koroi.

He added while we are fighting against COVID-19, the players have been given their individual training programme to work on while at home.
