New Nadroga Rugby boss confident of a fruitful 2021

The newly elected Nadroga Rugby Union president Jiuta Waqavonovono has a simple message for the Nadroga players – to enjoy playing their game.
He highlighted the importance of rugby and how it has changed people’s lives and their livelihoods.
Waqavonovono wants to bring back the lost glory days of Nadroga where they set the standard of Fiji rugby and rule all local provincial competitions.
“At the end of the day rugby is still the winner,” said Waqavonovono.
“We have a young side this season who are capable of achieving more and my advice to them would be enjoy your rugby when you’re still young and let rugby take you places.
“Nadroga used to rule on our local rugby competition and I trust these set of players can do the same from this season.”
The team from Nakuruvakarua failed to win any trophy last season after their poor performances in the Skipper Provincial Cup competition.
Their downfall raised many questions and doubts against the players and the committee however wants to change their course. They are hopeful that by doing this they are redeeming themselves.
“Playing 80 minutes’ rugby was our main weakness last season but we have improved and we have areas that we believe we can do better before the next round,” said Waqavonovono.
Meanwhile, Nadroga won their first two rounds of the Skipper Provincial Cup competition beating Suva 25-17 and edged Namosi 29-28 in the second round.
They will face Tailevu in the third round at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
